Hello!
Hello once more! Sharon had her first trip to the beach last week and enjoyed herself immensely. It was too windy and sunny for her to be out, but the couple of times she did get to the beach in the evenings she just loved being with her big cousins. She had so much fun with all the people all week...i dare say that she is a little bored with just me again!
Today was our first physical therapy appointment. I really like the therapist (who turned out to be a neighbor out here in the sticks!). We have some good things to work on with Sharon to get her muscles stretched (she is "low tone" so we will work to make sure that her muscles don't shorten from not being used as much as they should be). Overall though, the therapist told me a few times during the session, "you should be very happy. She looks so good compared to what i was expecting from reading her reports." Yay! one more comfirmation that this baby isn't going to let herself be labelled...
So, we'll meet with the PT once a week. At this point she'll be working more to give RJ and I things to do with Sharon, but as she gets older she will be able to do more direct work with her. The therapist did say that she feels that Sharon will require PT for quite a while (years), which we expected. She also recommended that we get started with OT as well since she thinks that some of Sharon's twitches, etc. could be sensory related and could be helped by OT, so i'm looking into getting that started sooner rather than later.
I'm relieved to have this all started. I feel like we are in such a waiting game to see the extent of damage, so it's nice to actually have something happening and someone to watch her progress and help us along on a regular basis...
other than that, she is still doing well. Starting to teeth, but still pleasant. She went to her first movie last night (Batman Begins....GREAT movie!) but it was too loud for her so she missed most of it and played with her daddy instead. She loves to talk to her stuffed toys and is just a joy to be around!!
God Bless all of you and thank you for continued prayers for healing of her brain...
