Hello! Thanks to Jax for posting those pictures...our tiny baby isn't so tiny any more!
And now on top of her wonderful huge smiles, she is starting to squeal with delight, particularly when i sing to her (John Denver seems to be her favorite!).
Physical therapy hasn't started yet, but we now have the name of the therapist who will be working with her and she's supposed to be starting in June...i am hoping that happens! We're seeing signs here and there of possible problems so the sooner everything gets started the better. We are so amazed at what she is accomplishing at this point...she's such a fighter and must have a truly miraculous brain! I've read more than i ever wanted to about neurological problems with infants in an attempt to prepare for what the future holds...even though i know there is no real way to prepare myself. Just take it all one day at a time and keep enjoying those smiles and squeals!
Her favorite time of day is morning still. She just wakes up with a huge smile, ready for the day. She's great company! We went on our first camping trip with gramma and pop pop Pierce this weekend. We hiked at Pilot mountain and RJ and I got a chance to climb (RJ much more than me...i'm too out of shape!). Sharon slept for a lot of the time, but we like to think that she enjoyed herself :)
Anyway, thanks to all of you for continuing to pray and support Sharon. The uncertainty of the future is difficult, but made much easier by how wonderful she is!!
love and bless
Jaye, RJ, and Sharon I.

hello again!

All is going well. Sharon had her two month appointment...she weighs 10 lbs and is now 21.5 inches long (my measurements say she is longer than that, but that's the official reading). She got her first round of shots (thanks to her aunt Jax who had to hold her since Mommy can't handle that). Her pediatrician continues to be amazed at how well she is doing and how strong she is...YAY!
Her baptism was beautiful and she didn't mind the immersion at all, just cried for the REST of the Mass. We didn't post any pictures of them, but her godparents are my parents.
She's more and more pleasant every day and we just love her! This coming week i'll meet again with the EArly Intervention folks and set up all of her different therapies. I'm very anxious for PT to begin so we can strengthen and also loosen up some of her muscles and limbs.
You are all in our prayers and please continue to keep us in yours that we can continue to be hopeful and positive for Sharon
God bless and love
Jaye, RJ, and Sharon I.

small update

Hello again
Not much new to report, but the Early Intervention folks came out today. They talked with me and interviewed me and all that fun stuff to try and find out what kind of services Sharon will need. They'll be back in two weeks to make everything more specific, but it looks like she is going to qualify for everything: speech therapy, physical therapy, educational therapy, occupational therapy, and medical follow up. I say Bring it all on! We love to hope that she won't need any of it, but i'd rather have it than not and let her get a jump on things since she'll have enough hurdles to get over....
MEanwhile, she is smiling so much now! I can't get anything done becuase i don't want to miss any of her awake time. She laughs at our fat furry cat and at lots of inanimate objects, but gives us smiles too. She's really got a great personality and is just beaming whenever she wakes up from a nap, eyes wide and ready to see what's in store...She only cries when she's tired (and becuase she fights sleep like the stubborn girl that she is, that is often)...we just feel so blessed to have such a great baby!!
love to you all
Feel free to come and see us :)

7 weeks old!

I can't beleive she's already almost two months old...and cuter every day!
Today we went to the Ear Nose Throat doctor to follow up. The doctor did just a visual check (which Sharon helped by screaming with her mouth wide open the whole time) and said that Sharon's throat, etc. look good. She said that the tiny cleft that is on her vocal chords should close itself over the next few months and that usually there are no problems. Of course i had to ask if she'd be able to sing and the doctor said there usually isn't a problem....
But, I'm thrilled that we now have one less doctor to keep in touch with!
Physical therapy will start on Thursday and i'm very curious to see what they are going to work on with her. Also anxious to get started with it...anything to make her stronger!
Yesterday she went with me to see Zac in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat"...her first live show. Jax was there to take care of her so i could enjoy the show but Sharon wound up sleeping for the first half and watching the second half with big eyes and not a peep! Maybe we have another performer in our midst...
Next weekend she will be baptized. Can't wait to see how she decides to entertain the congregation! And how she will handle the immersion... Actually she does very well at Mass (prefers the singing parts to the talking though).
I'll let you all know how the physical therapy goes...
Please continue the prayers! She's getting to the point where there are actualy milestones she is supposed to reach and we're just hopeful that she shows us all what a fighter she is!
love
Jaye, RJ, and SHaron I.
